Alpine Panorama Route

National “Cycling in Switzerland” Route No. 4

This physically demanding cycling tour traverses the northern foothills of the Alps in eight daily stages. The section through the Appenzeller region is one of the highlights. This route is superb, even if you don’t have time to complete all the sections. The ride from St. Margrethen to Appenzell through the rolling Appenzeller region with its unique nature, culture and living traditions is especially memorable. The next section through the flat Linth plateau to “Zigerland,” which is what the Glarus region is lovingly called in the rest of Switzerland, is also very impressive.
